<lj:music>Breaking Free</lj:music>

Wow is all I gotta say

First announced back in May without the "of Orange County" clause that makes it sound like a parental edition of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County (which itself was presented as a reality version of Fox's The O.C.), Bravo doesn't try and hide the fact that like Laguna Beach, The Real Housewives was envisioned as an unscripted version of a popular primetime soap -- in this case ABC's smash-hit Desperate Housewives.

"Bravo continues to innovate in the reality TV genre with this riveting series exploring the complicated daily lives of five privileged women and their families," Bravo president Lauren Zalaznick stated in announcing the show's premiere date. "From Peyton Place to Desperate Housewives, viewers have been riveted by the fictionalized versions of such lifestyles on television. Now, here is a series that depicts real-life 'desperate' housewives with an authentic look at their compelling day-to-day drama."

A seven-episode series, The Real Housewives will document life in what Bravo calls "one of the wealthiest planned communities in the country." According to the network, the women "lead glamorous lives in a picturesque Southern California gated community where the average home has a $1.6 million price tag and residents include CEOs and retired professional athletes."

All five the women "are used to the good life and will do everything they can to hang on to it." And "from diamond parties to Botox sessions to the stress of having a high-powered career," Bravo's cameras will follow it all.

Not surprisingly, the network hasn't disclosed the exact ages of the Botox users, instead stating only that four of them are "40-something" while the fifth woman is a "20-something" trophy wife-to-be that will be marrying one of the neighborhood's divorced fathers.

The five women (just like Desperate Housewives, and complete with a younger latina) are:

• Kimberly Bryant, a 40-something woman that Bravo describes as "the classic trophy wife, thanks to her plastic surgeon and husband's money" (although no doubt several of the other women could be described similarly.) Kimberly has two children with her husband Scott, a corporate executive, and is said to be "incredibly articulate and hard-working."

• Jeana Keough, a 40-something former Playboy Playmate and actress who "is now" the wife of former major league baseball pitcher Matt Keough. A mother of three who has lived in the gated community for 19 years, Jeans also sells real estate "for fun" and the insider gossip.

• Vicki Gunvalson, a 40-something "successful, self-made woman to be reckoned with." Vicki has two teenage children -- the youngest of which is getting ready to leave for college -- and is a "lucrative insurance broker" and "devout Christian" who is on her second marriage.

• Lauri Waring, a 40-something woman who works as an insurance broker for Vicki. A mother of three (one of whom was just released from juvenile hall) who recently got divorced, Lauri has been "forced to downsize her lifestyle" and is said to be "struggling to regain her status in the community."

• Jo De La Rosa, a 20-something "newbie" member of the community who recently became engaged to Slade Smiley (yes, that does appear to be his real name), one of the community's divorced dads. Described as "confident and sexy," Jo is "trying to figure out her place in this strange new world."

Although The Real Housewives was obviously inspired by a blend of Desperate Housewives, Laguna Beach, and even The O.C., the show has no connection with any of the production companies involved in those shows. Instead, The Real Housewives of Orange County was "created" by executive producer Scott Dunlop and is produced by Kaufman Films and Dunlop Entertainment. Kevin Kaufman, Patrick Moses, and Dave Rupel -- for whom the network cites older reality shows Big Brother 2, Temptation Island, and The Real World: London that he got his start on but makes no mention of the more recent and unimpressive Bands Reunited and American Princess projects where he actually had an executive producer role -- also serve as executive producers.

So winter formal was pretty fun! The days started off with riding and then heading over to get my hair and makeup done at the Beauty College. It was a pretty fun hairdo. I got it done differently than all the normal curls, in kind of a falling ponytail thing on the back-side of my head. I dunno. It was fun though and took awhile to get it to stay :). Got home and then went off to take pictures. Lots of pictures. Goodness. I am always amazed at how many pictures parents and everyone can take. So my feet were hurting already after that because my shoes were like too small, but got used to them by the end of the night.

Jordan's van was amazing. We had glowsticks and glow in the dark stars and tinsel like thingies in the car! Fun fun. We used Alexa's dellpod for music too. Drove to PF Changs and decided to walk through the mall all parade like. So we did. Through Nordstroms too. Fun! PF Changs is amazing. I love the "Chicken in SOOTHING lettuce wraps" haha. Awesome. We were playing this fun question game and it was getting all fun, rich rich rich :) awkward, but valid question! Ida was pretty neat! (Armas's date)

Got to the dance and the floor was quite sparse looking, but it was fun anyways. I knew a lot of the songs actually. THEY PLAYED SOARING FLYING FROM HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (Disney Channel Original Movie) :) love love love that song. People were freaking even though they werent supposed to. And there were lots of administrators around. :). So Court. Girls got these tiaras and flowers (pretty pretty me like) and guys got ties. Jordan won ::applause:: and so did Megan Konishi ::eh:: :) haha. But its still pretty sweet. Took a picture afterwards and then finished up the dance and went home!

Got back to Armas's house and i sorta fell asleep. Was woken up 45 min later by everyone saying they were too tired to do anything and we were all going home. Fun night though! Pics on myspace.

Had IEL banquet this monday...super fun minus the interruption by Stephens calling me for music. ::Anger:: I won't go into that though. Its all okay now. BUUUTTT, I actually won a class! At second level! THats a HUGE deal for my horse and me. We rarely win anything that is year end just because hes a pony and super hard. I got reserve in another too. And oh yeah, i got the top Senior scholarship. $3000! Yay :) Made my evening. THHS came in 6th overall for the entire year I believe. Not too shabby at all!

I don't know how much more of living life on like 5 hours of exhaustion sleep. I mean I know that most people in high school dont get much sleep, but like I dont even have time to do all my homework or anything anymore. I don't even know whats going on in LOTF right now, at least biblically. And we have an essay tomorrow. Like I have decided track comes first this fall, but now I dont have time to ride my horse, and I have orchestra on monday 6-9, mark's WCW on wed 6-9 in san clemente, weight room two days a week, homework, somehow have to fit in my extended essay (4000 words by March 1), my TOK essay (March 1), paperwork for all my CAS, do all this extra music stuff, RIDE (geez), design a website for my trainer, and the list just continues and continues. I feel like I am a teacher for most of my IB teachers, like I know more than all of they do. I swear, I even have their booklets. But I just get so restless. Like in school when I am not doing anything I just feel restless, like why am I here when I could be accomplishing something else. Or I get the feeling like, what is the difference if I watch TV for one hour or start on my hw right now, because I will finish at the same time no matter what. ::Sigh:: Once AP/IB tests are over I will feel much better.

On the upside, somehow my GPA went up as did my class rank despite getting my first two B+'s (gasp! :) ) I now have a 4.8 and am 5th. Haha not shabby I guess. This crazy work is paying off for something.

So Valentine's Day wasn't too bad. I got a few friend valentines that made me feel special. And I got the smallest of something else from someone of course meant nothing, but it was nice to think it did ;-) lol.

I hate being semi sick. You are not sick enough to not do things, but you feel miserable at random times. Especially after hard workouts. Its nice not having shannon to run with in track :) I love her, but its nice to have Sam and I be the leaders instead. Tracks gonna be fun this year. Captain! at least im hoping.... :)

I love the Olympics. I wanna but a shirt. Oh and i signed up for some 24 hour fitness thing.

I really hope I make it mentally through the next two months without falling apart from too much to do. When you see a shooting star, wish for me :)

Shaan asked me to winter formal, so now I have an official date! OUr group i think will have the guys being Armas, Shaan, Matt Cox, David something, and Jordan, maybe some other ppl, and the girls will be me, Sera, Frances?, Brittany, and some girls I don't know. It should be FUN! Next court duty is extended snack on the 2nd. We have to lipsynch to the Love Medley. At least its a GOOd song =). Know all the words baby.

Random thought of the day: why must every guy I think is remotely nice or fun, or anything of that general category (aka has some future to like) have to be mormon??? And this always happens to Byron and me! AH, why?

Girl's soccer game tonight was intense! Met up with Shannon and her ASB friends b/c Meg couldn't go (Gabi and Matt) and had fun. Cheered on track buds and listened to Coach Kelly call the game. Had lots of fun just chatting and sitting in the coldness. Fun fun fun. Talked to Meg when I got home in my driveway, and now I think I might watch an episode of smallville and scrapbook!

Clark told Lana his secret then went back in time to fix it since she died. Now his dad is dead. Poor Clark =(FUN.

So today I went and got myself sore again down at Mission's weight room. Talked to Tifney about borrowing her dress for formal, but then realized the school doesn't allow backless dresses. So I decided to trek over to Mission mall to look for shoes. My goodness! Some places are super expensive. I cannot justify spending $300 on a pair of shoes. lol. I realized then that I had not eaten breakfast or lunch, so I decided to head home to satisfy my hunger. I stopped by Saddleback College too, for transcripts, but I forgot that some places operate around regular work hours, lol. Oh well

I went shopping for a dress in the afternoon, and Windsor was a mob. Went to David's Bridal when they were actually open, unlike the last time I went and found an awesome dress. The picture does not do it justice. The color doesn't even look like that. It is more a green/aqua look than what is shown. And it is floor length. And it just looks prettier in person. Oh and I got an informal ask to winter formal today. He said the official one is coming later. Exciting!

Came home and didn't do much. Now I have to start on my calculus homework. Joy!

We visited Stordahl, Cox, and then found one. Dance show tonight was fun! Ran into Jeremy...haven't talked to him in forever.

So today during english Shannon Lane, Shaan, and Carley Wells came in to announce Formal Court and they go through their spiel with Jordan. And when they kept going, ah, lol i knew what was coming. A bit of an awkward moment, since we did break up last week, but it was okay. I got a boa! Way cool. But i think that I have to go to some half time show at a basketball game, and find a date. Meg and I are making a list of potentials lol. Oh and they introduced me as "Band Major, in NHS, and president of the Equestrian Club" lol.........my goodness

We had our first comp on the 22nd....up at OCC, not bad. It was a better show than the level at which we were performing it before, so that was sweet. But I had to fight the crowds because they put me in the stands on the tiny podium instead! Ah, I had no room. But Quincy was my almighty protector and guided me out of the crowds =). Now our second comp....well, I'm glad we have Las Vegas to make up for it. Poor Steps- he got surgery on his elbow (ew!) He took his sling off today and said he can't grip anything with his hand. Oh and Mission pep band game.. we were totally clobbered by Mission. 48-0 by the first half. My gosh =) final score was 54-14. I was excited that I got to meet my mission band friends on friday and saturday! It was exciting. I was at mission's weight room on wednesday and I stopped by to say hi because their practice just ended. They are one loud band- haha you can hear them from inside the buses. I like their show this year =) But don't worry, I like Rich's "The whaaallle, the wwhhhaallle, up hiiillmmmm, up hillllmmm!" better ;)

AH! I almost died on this monday. We did a 5-3-1-2-4 workout for track and Colleen, Natalie, and I almost died. I ran with Tiffany on my 300- lol it was supposed to be slow, and I think I came in at 48-49? That was a bit on the quick side, considering the others came in at 58, lol. But it was scary being in the weight room with wrestlers on tuesday. They were all trying to recruit me for wrestling. ?? Yeah, ok. How bout no?

Halloween was kind of a dud. Didn't really do much besides sit at home and work on hw while all else slaved away at college apps. Thats for Thanksgiving for me. I did go out to Kates for a bit, and then dropped by Jordan's on my way home. I got a packet of nerds out of that one =) Oh and he brought a blowhorn to the Mission comp, omg lol.
Oh and since we couldn't go to Homecoming because of OCC, he planned a special thing for the Sunday after. It was so cute! Ah =)

I was sick today. And I sound like a seal or sea lion or some sort of cold water creature. Ah my throat is killing me, and I feel like Im behind in my classes because I missed like all of today, going to miss tomorrow, missed fourth yesterday because of a notsofieldtrip, and monday was off. HW weekend! Yay? no, boooo. One thing I have noticed that is stupid about high school, but i guess they have to have it. If you are sick, or doing nothing in class, or having a work day when you've already done the work, why should you have to go to school? Seriously, sometimes we'll just go over hw in calc and have a free talk period, and I wish I could just skip lunch and go home two hours early, or german, english reading days. Or band days when Moreau teaches the entire time and I either sit reading or watching. Or the fact that you have to have your parents sign you out of school when you drive there yourself. Its just weird to me =/

I did a half pass on my horse yesterday!!! How cool is that??
Vegas tomorrow! I hope I dont forget anything =D

Mrs. Huffman came into English today and talked to us about colleges. Same old stuff again, but every so often I get weirded out like, ah! What if I haven't picked the best ones or what if the ones I apply to as my favorites turn me down, oh lots of stuff. Just like, what makes me different from others so Mrs. Huffman says. Makes you think. Theres a million other Karan and Sid's out there vying for these places too. Interesting. But I already have all of my teacher recommendations in and Mr. Rollins is doing all my counselor ones for me soon. All I have left is to complete my Stanford app, the Common App for CMC and Lehigh, Start the one for UVA and when the UC's come out, start trudging on that.

So tutoring is working out pretty swell! I have two kids on Sunday, one in Alg 2 Honors, and one in Geometry regular, and I make $20 an hour. A chem student is supposed to call me soon, so then I'll have just one more! Its very exciting, I love tutoring other people.

Well so on Friday, we put my dog to sleep, and that very evening Sir Jordan Baldonado asked me out. I'd say that day turned out pretty well considering how it began. =)

You know, one of the things I really do not understand about is jealousy. Why do people ever feel the need to be jealous? Or what makes them? I myself have never truly been jealous of anything in my life, so its hard for me to picture. Not relevent to anything in my life right now.....just something im pondering about =)

Oh and did I mention I went to an Angels game this past saturday?? Way fun. I wish I could have gotten playoff tickets, but those are so darn elusive. I'm shooting for a 10 game Ducks plan for this year! And on a last note- I feel the same way now that I did at the end of junior year, lazy and tired. Boo! I want sleep!

<lj:music>Wake Me Up When September Ends</lj:music>

It always takes me a few weeks to start settling into "school-mode"....meaning willingly sitting down to do my homework again =). My classes vary in "funness" this year. German will just be the same old story. The Frau. Videos from the 80's. Teaches us like wee little kids. But the kids in there are all fun- cept George Lee like to poke my hair =). Gaines has this witty sense of humor that cracks me up. Chem is definitely different than last year though. Wheras last year we were babied along steps in such areas as labs, this year we have to do it all alone. Boo on really long chem labs. Swenson is a pretty neat guy for an english teacher. He does like to talk a lot, which can tend to make your eyes droopy if your tired =) Just crashed and burned on the Medea test, haha oh well, so did like everyone else.

Psych.....consists of notecards + random skits + a really loud "doctor." Its okay, at least I have a million people I know in it, but I wish it were more fun than just a lecture. Lets skip band. You all know about that one anyways- when the suns out, its hot =). Calculus is shaping up to be a fun class. I got an A on our first quiz, and I learned that infinity minus infinity does NOT equal zero. There are more letters in that class then there are numbers though. Gonna do BC.

I've come to the conclusion that I really really wish I could make time to do track workouts. Prob is, I don't know when all of my track buds meet in San Clemente. I will go this Saturday if I have to drag myself out of bed. And I will go to weightroom next week. I promise myself.

So I'm trying out a new saddle- I really hope it works :-/ The one I have right now is so off balance on D that it totally shifts up his back and makes me sit in a chair position. This new one I hope might correct that, and I got a 17" instead of a 17 1/2"...maybe that will help too. So I'm starting the IEL club at our school and I have about four real members...I'm so excited! Its the horse league I ride in btw =). I'm getting everyone embroidered pads that say have our logo and name etc, and want to make a real team like SM and Tesoro have. Show is in two weeks. Angels game this saturday!

Okay, so tomorrow morning between nine and ten my dog is getting put down =(. I am so sad- we've had her since who knows when....I mean I remember she used to do this cool "bunny hop" thing when we used to walk her, and I would race her to this power box in my old neighborhood pretending we were racehorses. She always looked so funny- like her ears would go back in like this seal position- I dunno shes just so cute and was always there for hugs. And we've had her forever, since I was like i dunno 7 or 8 maybe younger. I've never lost anything remotely close to me in my life, and even though shes just a dog, I'm going to miss her so much- not matter how annoying she can be with continual barking. I love that dog- at least I'll still have Holly.

And on that *great* note, I'm going to go back to doing my homework.

<lj:music>pickle song from the little rascals</lj:music>

Im excited =). I just got a letter in the mail from Lehigh for an "official" visit (college pays some sort of expense to have you come) to their campus on one of their recruiting days. So I think I'm going to go either in Jan or Feb cause marching band has to conflict with all of the other visiting dates =). Got a check up letter from Claremont Mckenna about my school and track etc. Of course the two schools who are contacting me aren't my highest picks, but hey, I'm not complaining!

First day of school seemed to go pretty good! Hehe, I wore a really fun skirt.. Only problem is they gave Aubrey and I the same locker when we were supposed to have each our own.

German- It will be the same old class, except with the annoying people weeded out. Hope that I learn more this year

Chem- Gaines seems pretty nice, class is like entirely asians- =) kate and I are a minority! Oh and Matt's new name is "Ar-aaaa-lias"

English- oh boy, I am going to like that class. Swenson is a funny guy! Picked on aaron the whole time and oh, he just has a great sense of humor.

Psych- interesting mix of people. And the first time i think ive been in a portable my entire HS career. Boo on that. Just introduced ourselves.

Band- just band

Calc- I can tell you Rezner is going to be one of my favorite teachers this year. She is funny and really nice, and knows her stuff. Cool people in the class too

One of my pet peeves: Its annoying when a million people ask you the same question over and over and over and over again. Its like buy a posterboard and put it on you, then maybe they wont ask all the questions, but in reality, you know they'll ask or comment just to make sure they have the right info anyways, so actually whats the point? Even if you tell everyone the same thing in a big group, a few people wont understnad right away....lol ahhhhhhh. Haha its just a random thought- but it is a very annoying thing! Lol.
